the project
Based in Zygmunt Bauman's "liquid society", l/q/d describes a world of constant change, uncertainty, and instability. Traditional structures dissolve, and individuals face flexibility but also insecurity. Relationships, jobs, and identities shift rapidly, making adaptation essential but often leaving people feeling lost. In a liquid society, commitments are fragile, and long-term stability is rare. Consumerism fuels this fluidity, encouraging instant gratification over lasting bonds. People must reinvent themselves constantly, navigating shifting norms and expectations. While this offers freedom, it also increases anxiety and social isolation.
